We aims to transform the lives of refugee children through a quality and formal education and create opportunities for them to be productive and responsible in society. We believe that true excellence in education requires a commitment to equity and social justice. Our vision is to make sure critically reflective graduates possess deep knowledge in their core subjects of study and to achieve an accredited qualification.
Within one and a half years almost 745,000 Rohingya people have fled violence, abuse and unimaginable horrors in Myanmar’s Rakhine state and escaped to Bangladesh where around 32,000 registered Rohingya refugee were already staying since 1992 at Nayapara and Kutupalong camps. Now, they are struggling with the daily challenges of life in the cramped and unsanitary refugee camps. More than half of those living in the camps are children where 3 out 4 don’t have access to education. In addition, The Rohingya students expelled from local schools in Bangladesh for being refugees and Bangladesh have provided no legal pathway for Rohingya refugee children to attend the local school and prohibited them from receiving formal education in the camps.
Currently, education in the refugee camps is delivered by a range of International aid agencies (INGO) community-based organisations (CBO) and other national development organisations but responsibilities vary. However, there are no formal curriculum or framework for Rohingya children. Many organisations have educational responsibility for a handful of camps – managing many of the ‘temporary learning centres’, secular education in Madrassas and ‘Child-Friendly Spaces.
